Dry carbon is made with heated and molded resin. A carbon cloth sheet pre-impregnated with resin (not used in dry carbon production) is fitted to a hold and then heated under high pressure. The F-1 quality autoclaves and carbon steel molds necessary to endure the high temperatures and pressures involved in this process increase the cost of production, but the dry carbon process produces incredible strength with very low weight.

Due to its strength and low weight, dry carbon is used in everything from race cars to airplanes and even on space shuttles.
